This is charming closed road event based in the picturesque Highland town of Pitlochry. Broadly flat and only 80 miles the Etape Caledonia is a great intermediate sportive. Pitlochry is fully taken over by the event with 5000 riders coming far and wide to enjoy the stunning Perthshire scenery. The route takes you around Lochs Tummel and Rannoch before the only climb, a KOM challenge up Schiehallion. Once finished find a decent table in one of the packed bars and pull up a chair to watch that day’s Giro D’Italia stage safe in the knowledge that everyone in the bar has tired legs too!
- Book your accommodation early- Pitlochry is not a big town and the hotels book up quick
- Same thing for your Saturday night pre-ride dinner. Reserve your pasta!
- A short ride, coupled with a very early finish means it is possible to get an early afternoon train and head back to London on Sunday evening.
