Bicycle Sidas Custom Insoles
Improve Performance, Increase Comfort and Reduce Injury
Our custom insoles help individuals from elite athletes to recreational sportsmen and sportswomen.
Custom insoles and orthotics have been widely used to treat foot, ankle and lower leg problems and injuries for years.
Increasingly, custom insoles have become standard equipment for elite athletes including runners, football, rugby, tennis, hockey players, cyclists and more.
If you are injured or recovering from an injury Bicycle Sidas Custom Insoles can help with: plantar fasciitis, achilles-tendon pain, knee pain, and hip and lower back pain as well as many more foot and body alignment issues.
The Foundations for Alignment and Movement
A foot with poor support is like a building with poor foundations. The lack of support can lead to problems not only in the foot itself, but also in the rest of the body such as the knee, hip, back, etc
The sole of the foot is the primary method of supporting and propelling the body. Ensuring it is correctly supported is critical to improving performance, increasing comfort and reducing the risk of injury.
FORCES AND INJURY
Activities such as walking, running, skiing, tennis, football, etc. subject the body’s musculoskeletal system to forces both external (ground reaction forces/gravity etc.) and internal (muscle and joint reaction forces). The body is usually well adapted to cope but key issues may develop:
1. When these forces increase beyond the normal range the joint/body can physically manage, the joint/body becomes overloaded, leading to injury (strains etc.).
2. Issues of mobility, strength, and any structural abnormalities and the type and frequency of activity can exaggerate the forces, either leading to increased risk of injury.
3. Injury may be immediate or progressive over time i.e. bunions are caused by overloading joints in the feet over many years, not just tight shoes.
Good foundations improve performance, increase comfort and reduce injury.
Custom Insoles and orthotics have been proven to reduce and/or modify the forces on the body allowing it to function within a (more) normal range, thus reducing injury potential and improving performance.
The additional energy used to counter the excessive forces also results in the onset of early fatigue, hence less energy is available to perform your chosen activity.
Please note any orthotics/insoles or wedges needed to complete the fit are an additional cost.
Discuss your injury history, physical complaints while riding, riding experience and goals.
We measure your current position to know where we started and record the body angles, posture and pedaling technique.
Postural and movement assessment
Identify any tightness, weaknesses and structural asymmetries. This may highlight further areas that can be improved with dedicated physiotherapy, pedaling technique or cycling strength and conditioning sessions.
Assess and adjust the cleat position, footbeds, shoes size and shape, saddle position, handlebar and grip position.
Retül Zinn scan
Once the fitting is finished, the final position is scanned with the Retül Zinn tool and a PDF document with the measurements is produced for you to keep.
Adjustments and advice
If you need to change your bars, stem, seatpost, saddle or any other components to achieve the perfect position, we will advise on the most suitable options. We keep a wide range of components in stock to suit all budgets. There's no hard sell, we tell you what size you need, and our workshop can fit the parts if you choose to buy them from us.
Please note any orthotics/insoles or parts needed to complete the fit are an additional cost.
